In the IELTS Writing test, you will need to write your answers on paper by hand. It's a good idea to practice this several times before taking the actual test. My practice version of the official IELTS Writing answer sheet includes double-spaced lines for easier editing and correction, plus a space for teacher feedback at the end.

The IELTS Writing modules test your ability to produce two quite different pieces of writing in a fairly short period of time. Before applying to sit the test, you need to decide whether to take the Academic or the General Training module. Each module is divided into two parts and you have only one hour to complete both pieces of writing.

Writing a 250 word essay in 40 minutes is no easy task. And if you aren’t allowed to use the internet, ask for help, or even use your computer, this can be a real challenge. If you have been prepping for the IELTS essay, you will know exactly what I mean.

The essay for Task 2 of the IELTS writing exam is something that a lot of students are afraid of. You must write about 250 words and this should be completed in approximately 40 minutes (because you also need to complete Writing Task 1 in the first 20 minutes of the 1 hour writing test).
